President uses prime time address to make case for $700 billion bailout

I am impressed by what President Bush is doing. Here he is at the end of a tough presidency working hard (I'd say harder than ever but I honestly have never known his itinerary) to make sure Americans are okay. You can see the concern in his eyes and I don't think it comes from worrying about his own bank account or how he looks to Americans. I think he clearly sees a major recession and he is trying to keep Americans from heading off an economic cliff. I was struck with the thought that it has been a while since I prayed for my President. I am determined that I will also pray for the next president, even if by some decision it ends up being the wrong man.

44 But I say unto you, Love your benemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

My New Calling

I am now one of the nursery leaders for our ward. Last week seemed pretty easy, but then last week the couple who has been at it for a year or so was there. Today was a little rough, but overall it went all right. I think discipline is the hardest part of this calling. Even though I have two boys it still freaks me out to see children hitting each other. It is amazing how often little kids get hurt, and sometimes I want to just - well I put one boy in time out twice. Is that over the top for nursery? But meanwhile when I taught the lesson, I saw at least one girl who was paying attention to me. The lesson was on prayer and I asked her what she would ask Heavenly Father for. She said a swingset.

Name and meaning: Xacari Taylor McIntosh. After we picked this we learned that Zachary Taylor was president of the United States and is called the muskrat president because congress used to leave muskrats on their chairs when he came to address them. It really is an interesting story... Zachary is also short for Zechariah, a name for John the Baptist.

Age: 3 years, almost 4

Nicknames: Xac

Favorite activities: "uh play, uh park, uh bike", and Xac loves little people and puppies. He likes to play on the computer too.

Favorite foods: cake, cookies, cooked squash with honey, oatmeal, milk, toast.

Least favorite foods: vegetables.

Favorite music: Xac used to put his hands over my mouth whenever I sang. Now I sing lullabies to Xhaiden and he likes to come in and help me. He rocks and sings and holds his remote control truck and tried to throw it in the crib once with Xhaiden.

Favorite toys: Whatever the other kid has? Xac likes powered ride on toys, slides, teddy bears and balls.

Favorite book: Xac doesn't generally like books, but if one has pop-ups or pull-outs, that is good. He likes to point out letters and say their sounds.

Favorite item of clothing: hats of all kinds and the ducky rain coat he got from his cousin, gloves.

What makes him happy: Playing with other kids, movies, helping mom in the kitchen.

What makes him sad: Diaper changes, Xhaiden playing with his toys, coming inside, bedtime.
