Tagged

My cousin Hanna tagged me, unless she meant her dog, or some other friend that I don't know about, so now I have to respond. The challenge is to reveal seven interesting things about myself that others might not know. So here goes.

1. I had both my babies without epidurals because I am intensely afraid of needles.

2. I have a goal to become a millionaire. I want to pay cash for a house someday.

3. I have been to school for eight years and gone to six different colleges. I am working on a degree in business and have an Associates' degree in general studies. A career advisor told me once (after I took an aptitude test): "No wonder you can't pick a major. You're good at everything!" Well maybe not everything. I definitely want to avoid the medical profession. Biology is not my passion.

4. I want to homeschool my children.

5. I am the greatest math tutor ever. Jim had some math videos he kept watching for his last math test. I was helping him with some homework when I explained a concept and he said "I watched that over and over on the vidoes and didn't get it, and you just explained it to me in 30 seconds." At Weber State one girl actually told me "I feel like you are an angel sent to help me pass my math test." I am embarassed to admit that I felt so awkward I did not acknowledge the compliment. It really was a kind thing for her to say. Suffice it to say I know math and I have a talent for teaching. I can help someone understand a concept quicker than anyone I know.

6. I am a genius, according to one of those IQ test websites.

7. Public speaking does not usually scare me.9op8

Armadillo Run

Armadillo Run is our new favorite computer game. It is physics-based, with a ball or Armadillo that you have to get into a blue circle by constructing bridges and other sorts of traps to catch it. This is all done with a limited budget. Xac has a blast playing it and running the simulations. Jim have found we can go in and edit levels to give ourselves a Department of Defense budget. We can also make our own levels, which is fun. In any case, I highly recommend it.

Hands on day

I am starting a new experiment right now. I am keeping Xac right by my side all day long, holding his hand when I go anywhere. Right now both he and Xhaiden are sitting on my lap. He really wants to type right now. I am sick anyways and can't do much housework, so we'll see how this goes.

So far so good. He's in bed, or at least in his room, and Jim and Xhaiden are asleep. Holding his hand while stirring lunch was a bit rough, but thank goodness we had leftovers.

Well I think I kind of gave up, after that Jim had to take his test, so Xac went to grandma's to get babysat. He had a blast playing on the treadmill with his cousin Jenna.

Go faster Xac!

New Day

It's 28 below zero according to my mother-in-law, who came this morning to take my husband away from me. She also added that since it is so cold I should not go anywhere. In her words "there is no reason to take those kids outside". Not that I had planned to leave the house under any circumstances, unless they are such like last night when the power went out for three hours and we all went over to her place, but it was nice of her to be concerned.

I am still a little sick but a little better than yesterday.

About last night, we were about to take Jim's math test online when the power went out. He says he was about to hit 'start test' when I asked if he wanted to pray first. Well, we said our prayer, and I went off to get another drink and more olive oil to put on my very dry and cracked lips. I came back, sat down, got the clipboard and pen and the power went out. Jim grabbed our little AA battery flashlight and we bundled up the kids and headed to grandma's house.

Sick all week

I had my tubes tied a week ago Wednesday. My mother-in-law was nice enough to take Xac for two days while I recovered. I pushed myself and did too much housework - since I was feeling so good - and then I was worthless (as applied to housework). In any case I thought I would feel better this week, but halfway through the week Jim found a piece of banana that had been shoved into the spout on our water pump (we have exclusive taste, or so we thought, until this point). It was rotten and the whole family has been sick. Jim has been doing remarkably well. He had one trip to the hospital to get fluids and came home good as new ready to help. He has helped with laundry, cooking, and even a little cleaning (enough to clear off some table space to make a 3' diameter clock).

Xac

Xac gets free preschool because of his inability to speak. He loves his class, so that is wonderful for us, but sometimes I wonder if he is unable or just unwilling. Jim's mom posted this the day after Christmas:

Xac still speaks “Xacaneese”. Yesterday, he found the tripod for my camera and decided it would make a good “microphone”. He set it up so that the handle was the right height to be right in front of his mouth and would stand and talk into it. Waving his arms and just carrying on. Every once in a while he would break out into song. He decided that it was Jim’s turn to share a few words and adjusted the height to be at Jim’s mouth and set it in front of him. Jim said a few words in “Xacaneese” Xac got a puzzled look on his face and leaned in close to Jim’s face and very clearly said “What did you say”?
